Interactive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery 2008,
doi:10.1510/icvts.2008.174904A © 2008 European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery We read with interest the recent report by Augusto D'Onofrio and coworkers [1]. Intraoperative graft angiography is an important tool for quality control after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Intraoperative angiography may represent a valid method for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with coronary artery disease [2]. On-table angiography saved a potential number of grafts that otherwise would have been occluded, and must be considered a necessary tool in the quality assessment of coronary artery bypass surgery [3]. We agree with the authors in the appropriateness of using intraoperative coronary and graft angiography in a hybrid operating room for diagnostic and therapeutic approach to exclude the fatal complications in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD). Since July 2006 at the Bakoulev Center for CVS, RAMS, coronary and graft angiography has also been used if needed during open heart operations, including stenting in small and newborn children with pulmonary artery stenosis, patent ductus arteriosus - in summary 87 patients.
